Notes:
- These instructions should work for both GPS Tracker devices and TrakView Dashcams, but for specific dashcam installation instructions, see How to install your TrakView Dashcam.
- An installation typically takes just a few minutes.
- The best way to install devices is to get the Force mobile app, sign in, and follow the onboarding instructions (the same instructions as listed here).
- Signing in to the app: When the devices were shipped, you were sent an email with a link to create an account password. Check to see if you still have that email. Otherwise, if you did not complete this step and no longer have the email, when you open the app, tap FORGOT PASSWORD? We will send an email to create a new password for your account.
- If you have a heavy-duty vehicle (Class 6 and above) that requires an additional cable, refer to the second set of instructions, below.
...
Normal installation:
- Ensure vehicle is parked outdoors in area with good cellular coverage and ignition is off.
- With vehicle off, insert the device OBD plug into vehicle OBD port (usually under driver dashboard).
- Start vehicle (engine on).
- Check the app to see if the device has been detected. This may take a few minutes.
- Once detected, follow the app instructions to finish setting up the vehicle.
If you are having issues with installation, see Troubleshooting issues with GPS Tracker devices.
Installation using heavy-duty cables:
These instruction are for users with Class 6 and above vehicles that require heavy-duty cables to connect an OBD device. The cables should have come with your Force Fleet Tracking devices when you made your order. If you don't have cables but need them, please contact customerservice@forcefleettracking.com.
- Ensure vehicle is parked outdoors in area with good cellular coverage and ignition is off.
- Connect the Force OBD device to the OBD end of the HD cable (if you feel it necessary, secure the connection with electrical tape, but try not to cover the label).
- With your vehicle turned off, carefully connect the other end of the cable to your vehicle’s port. If the cable you have does not fit into the port, stop. You may have the wrong cable for your vehicle. Take a picture of your vehicle’s port and send it to us at customerservice@forcefleettracking.com. We will get you the right cable. (See below for typical connectors.)
- Once the cables are connected, secure the device under the dash. We recommend zip-tying to a secure fixture.
- Start your vehicle.
- Check the app to see if the device has been detected. This may take a few minutes.
- Once detected, follow the app instructions to finish setting up the vehicle.
