The dashcam does not continuously record when your vehicle is off, but will record a 60-second clip when vehicle is off but disturbed or when Live View is initiated from your Force dashboard.

How do I manually capture dashcam footage? Does the camera record continuously?
The dashcam records continuously while vehicle ignition is on and, as well, captures distinct events (harsh brakes, speeding, etc.). If you want to capture a specific portion of the camera recording as a clip, you can use the record button on the camera or the Live View recording in the web dashboard. Each time you initiate a recording, a 60-second clip will be produced. You can also create a clip from a segment of a completed trip. See How to create a clip from a trip for more details.
Are event clips automatically transferred from the dashcam to the cloud?
Two types of user-generated clips (using the Live View function in your web dashboard, as well as generating a clip from a trip) are automatically transferred to your clips library. Crash event recordings will also be automatically transferred. Otherwise, clips need to be transferred via your account dashboard in the app. For a full overview of clips, see How does the dashcam work?
When I request to transfer a clip from the dashcam, where does it go?
Event clips requested for transfer from your dashcam will be copied to your clips library in your Force account dashboard.
When I request a clip from the dashcam, is it removed from the dashcam?
No. A clip is copied to your clips library only and will remain on the dashcam until overwritten by new event clips (once the events folder on your dashcam is full). Oldest clips will be overwritten first. See How does the dashcam work? for more details.
How long can my dashcam record before the SD card is full?
Your dashcam is set to continuously record on a loop when your vehicle is in operation, with a portion of the SD card reserved to capture and retain event clips and user-generated clips. Your dashcam can typically record approximately 100 hours of event clips before they start to be overwritten (starting with the oldest). Clips are 15, 30, or 60 seconds, depending on the clip type.
Can I install a larger SD card in the dashcam and what is the maximum capacity?
Your dashcam comes with a 256 GB micro SD card, which can be switched out with a larger card up to 512 GB.
How long can the dashcam run once it is unplugged?
When your dashcam is unplugged from the vehicle OBD port, the dashcam will stay on for approximately 1 minute before shutting down. After that, it will wake up briefly every 20 minutes to aid in recovery (in case it has been stolen).
Will the dashcam drain my battery when my vehicle is parked?
When your vehicle is parked with ignition off, the camera will go into sleep mode with no material drain on your battery.
Does the dashcam record audio as well?
Yes, your dashcam can capture audio alongside the video. This feature can be set on or off in your Force web dashboard. Go to Account Settings --> Devices. There you will see an option to set audio recording on or off. (The default setting is off.) NOTE: When generating a live view clip via your Force dashboard, if you have set the audio preference to on, you will not hear audio on the clip until it is transferred from the camera and played from your clips library.
Does the dashcam have voice control capabilities?

What resolution does my dashcam record at?

Check with your insurance provider for their policies specific to dashcam footage. If you do want or need to share a clip, Force includes a Share Clip function that lets you generate and share a link to view the clip. For more information on capturing and sharing clips from trips, see How to create a clip from a trip.
Does the dashcam require any additional maintenance?
