This article describes what kinds of dashcam clips can be created and how to manage them, including how to transfer clips from your dashcam and manually capture, create, or extend clips. For an explanation on how the dashcam operates, see How does the dashcam work?
Overview of dashcam clips
The table below lists the various types of clip possible to be generated, its clip length, and whether or not the clip is automatically transferred to your Clips library in your Force web dashboard. If a clip is not automatically transferred to your clips library, you will need to initiate transfer yourself, as described in the section below.

How to transfer clips from your dashcam
Some clip types are automatically transferred from the dashcam to your clips library while others need to be manually transferred via your Force web dashboard. Because the dashcam will eventually overwrite older clips, you should periodically transfer clips that you wish to retain. Note that transferring a clip from your dashcam does not delete the clip from the dashcam.
There are several ways to transfer clips from your dashcam:
How to transfer via the Clips section:
The Clips section in your Force web dashboard will display all the clips that have been created on your account, either by the dashcam itself or by manually capturing, creating, or extending clips.
To see all the clips available in your fleet, ensure the "All" fleet tab is active. To view a specific fleet's vehicles, open its tab. To see clips from a specific vehicle, open that vehicle's details page.
While some clips are automatically transferred to your Clips library, you will need to initiate the transfer yourself for others.
A clip that has not been transferred will have a cloud transfer icon.
To transfer the clip:
- Tap the cloud icon. Note that transfers require the dashcam (i.e., your vehicle) to be in an area with good network coverage.
- On the Request Clip? prompt, tap REQUEST.
How to transfer from a vehicle's details page:
When you open a vehicle's details page (e.g., go to Vehicles section and tap on a vehicle), you will see a column displaying the clips created by the dashcam in that vehicle. You can also initiate a dashcam transfer from here by tapping any clip showing the cloud transfer icon and then tapping REQUEST when prompted.
How to transfer from the Alerts section
- Go to ALERTS. For vehicles with a dashcam installed, events listed will include clips such as speeding, unplugged, disturbance, etc.
- Tap on an event.
- If the clip has not been transferred, tap the cloud icon.
- On the Request Clip? prompt, tap REQUEST.
How to manually capture, create, or extend clips
There are several ways you can manually capture, create, or extend clips:
- Press the dashcam's record button: This will record a 60-second clip of both the exterior and interior (unless the privacy cover is closed). The clip will not automatically download.
- Live View recording: This will also capture a 60-second clip of the exterior and interior. The clip will automatically download and appear in your Clips library. See How to use Live View for more details.
- User-created clip: You can create a 30-second clip from available dashcam footage via the Trails feature in Force. The clip will automatically download and appear in your Clips library. See How to create a clip from a trip for more details.
- Extend a user-created clip: Once you have created a clip from a trip, if you need to, you can extend the clip to capture more footage via the Trails feature. (Note that only user-created clips are able to be extended; this option is not available for event clips such as speeding and harsh braking.) See How to extend a user-created clip for more details.
How to share a clip
